Homework 6

Here you go. Mostly magnetism, a couple of induction questions. Due Monday, 3 March at 17:00.

on number 4 part c, you said that C=2pir=40 cm. are we supposed to solve for r and plug that into the equation for area of a circle (pir^2)?

when i did that, i ended up with the square having the biggest torque, then the circle, then the triangle, and i thought you said the circle should have the biggest torque.

You are right to set C=2pir and solve for r. Then the area is pi*r*r ... which should still give the largest area (and thus torque) for the circle.

Square: each side is 40/4 or 10cm.

Not sure why it is coming out that the square has the biggest torque, but I would double check your areas.
